MENTAL WELLBEING AT WORK

This online Mental Wellbeing at work course helps employees understand how to improve their own and colleagues mental wellbeing.  Employer can purchase the course and email it to staff to help create a healthier workplace.

In his book Good Reasons for Bad Feelings, evolutionary psychiatrist Randolph M. Nesse suggests that for mental wellbeing we need:

  1. Connections – ie friends, family, co-workers, community, sense of worth etc.
  2. Hope – in other words an optimism about the future or a general feeling that things will get better.

Without either of these two components our mental wellbeing may deteriorate.

Helpful for staff working in low-risk workplaces.  The course is CPD-accredited and lasts approximately 45 minutes.   We explore how social connections and hope might be achieved within a work environment.  However, it may also be valuable for you to take some time to reflect on these concepts within your life beyond work.

Key lessons are communicated in an engaging, clear and concise way.

IMPACT OF WORK ON MENTAL WELLBEING

As the World Health Organization states – there is no health without mental health.

However, with one in three people saying that work causes them the most stress in life, it’s clear that the workplace – its environment and its culture – can have a major impact on our mental wellbeing, and therefore our overall health. At an organisational level, stress and poor mental health costs UK businesses between £33 billion and £42 billion a year through reduced productivity, high staff turnover and sickness absence.

Conversely, workplaces that promote mental wellbeing and support people with mental illness are more likely to reduce absenteeism, increase productivity and benefit from associated economic gains.

This online Mental Wellbeing for Work course provides and option to help boost the wellbeing of all employees in a sustainable way.
